During my visit, I had the opportunity to interact with the ECG management and staff, gaining deeper insight into the challenges they face in ensuring a stable power supply. One of the most significant issues highlighted was low voltage levels across the municipality. The ECG manager explained that Hohoe’s power is supplied from the Kpando main transformer, which also serves Dambai and surrounding areas. However, the rapid population growth along this corridor has placed an overwhelming demand on the transformer, leading to supply deficiencies.
Adding to this strain, ongoing gas pipeline maintenance by GRIDCo has further disrupted the power supply. This dual challenge has made it increasingly difficult to maintain a steady flow of electricity in Hohoe.
Despite these difficulties, ECG assured me that relief is on the way. Within the next one to two weeks, an additional transformer will be installed to help ease the burden on the existing infrastructure. Furthermore, the completion of GRIDCo’s gas pipeline maintenance is expected to restore stability, bringing much-needed relief to businesses and households alike.
Beyond the broader power supply issues, I also raised specific concerns affecting residents, including:
In response, the ECG manager assured me that their team will work towards enhancing service delivery and improving communication with residents. I also encouraged them to leverage local media to educate the public, address misconceptions, and provide real-time updates on power-related issues.
Reliable electricity is fundamental to economic growth, education, and the overall well-being of our people. As your Member of Parliament, I am committed to advocating for long-term solutions that will guarantee stable and uninterrupted power supply in Hohoe. Together, we can build a future where businesses thrive, students excel, and homes remain well-lit.
Let’s stay hopeful and continue working towards lasting progress.
